Picks for Vice President

Hey CRs!

The last two polls on this blog have been about John McCain's potentially running mate. In both of those polls, you decided that neither Dr. Rice nor Senator Graham would make a good Vice President. Currently there is a long list of possible choices. Here are some of the names being "tossed around:"

-Governor Mitt Romney
-Governor Mike Huckabee
-Senator Brownback
-Senator Libermann
-Governor Crist
-Governor Jindal
-Col Powel
-Dr. Rice
-Senator Graham
-Speaker Gringrich
-Congressman Boehner

This list reflects the type of people being considered. Should McCain pick a rising Republican Star? A strong social conservative? A person with domestic policy experience? Or a well-known politician? Should he pick a southern republican, or a Republican from a state with many electoral votes, such as CA or TX? Or should he pick a "wild card," like Joe Libermann?

The reason as to why the VP is so important this year is because due to McCain's age, he may only be a one-term President.
The Vice President could be extremely important, especially if the GOP plans to hold on to the White House for four, eight, or twelve more years.

Rather than do a poll, I thought I would let you all just comment on this post. Who should McCain pick as his VP?

Gov. Bobby Jindal. Without question.

Gov. Bobby Jindal is the only one on this list that makes any sense what so ever. The one thing I worry about him though is that the people of LA really need him in Baton Rouge. He would be great though.

But, let's rank these anyway from best (least offensive) to worst (most offensive):

1) Jindal
2) Romney
3) Boehner
4) Brownback
5) Gingrich
6) Powell
7) Rice
8) Graham
9) Crist
500) Huckabee
1000) Lieberman

5 through 1000 are totally unacceptable. Yes, I'm including Newt in the unacceptable - he now bows at the altar of al-Goreacle the all-knowing, high priest of the Church of Global Warming. He did a commercial, funded by Gore, with that witch Pelosi, calling for the government to stop global warming. Word to Newt: NASA's own data says the Earth is now COOLING!!! Newt: you are no longer a conservative!!! Man, how the mighty have fallen!!!

P.S.: If McCain wasn't the nominee, he would be 10 on this list.

It would be a political disaster for Governor Jindal to accept an offer to be McCain's running mate.

First, Republicans in LA would be so pissed they would likely vote Dimocrat out of spite.

Next, Dem's in LA would have a field day with "I told you so's" claiming they were always right that Gov. Jindal never cared about LA but only his political career.

McCain is NOT a conservative and associating himself with McCain would likely be political suicide for Gov. Jindal. IF McCain can pull this election off, there is no need to have Gov. Jindal sitting in a "dead head" job when his career will be far better served gaining executive experience while saving LA, and making all efforts for a run for the Presidency in either 2012 or '16.

Strategy wise, Palwenty would make more sense given Michigan is a bigger battleground state.

If worrying about McCain's age is the #1 concern, then Romney would likely be the most prepared to takeover.

IMO, if McCain was not the nominee, he wouldn't even showup on the VP list.

Gingrich appearing with "Peloozer" is most disappointing and drinking Algore's koolaid is much worse. Newt has now joined the ranks of past Presidents without ever being elected and little chance of being elected.
