Al Franken owes $70,000 in taxes

Sorry folks- its a bit of a slow news week, but not to fear! A liberal owes the Government money!

That's right! He failed to file his taxes from all of his speeches and comedy routines. He has brushed it off as a "simple mistake." Seriously, Al? Since when is $70, 000 a "simple mistake?"

This has caused some people to worry, thinking that this scandal may cause Franken to be "unelectable."

Photo Caption Contest

Hey y'all-

Above is a recent photo of Clinton speaking at a campaign rally. I call it "Clinton speaking to the heavens," but that's just me. Comment on this post as to what you think the caption should be.

You know, she could be singing, "If I only had brain."

Is Rev. Sharpton committing acts of terror?

You know how Rush Limbaugh might get in trouble for encouraging riots outside the Democratic National Convention?

Guess what? Al Sharpton is doing almost the same thing, and is getting away scott-free, thanks to the liberal media!

Rev. Sharpton has promised "to shut down" New York City, sparking massive protests. Some of Sharpton's followers have shouted "Kill the police!"

Now, am I crazy, or is there something wrong with someone shouting "kill the police?"
Why isn't Al Sharpton being threatened with jail time like Limbaugh is?

Guantanamo Bay

On April 24th, Amnesty International Held a protest here on Mason's campus, in which they covered the campus in orange paper. This trash was everywhere, hanging all over the trees. In the "free speech area" they blocked the road with even more garbage by building a cell. In actuality the cell they built was a lot smaller than what the real ones are, and they gave out false anti-government propaganda. These wanna-be anti-war hippies were interviewed with Connect2Mason.com, in which they gave their reasons for wishing to protect terrorists. Another notable thing, the protest was delayed a week because they didn't want to get wet. Either that or they are lazy.

During the "protest" one of the demonstrators said that "Guantanamo is violating a lot of our constitutional rights." Oh really? How does that work out? Since when do state-less terrorists have constitutional rights of a country that they hate and intend on destroying?

Another notable quote: "Our goal is to get 200 signatures so we can hand them to President Bush. We're just gonna walk out there and say how many people support us." Good luck with that. I really doubt that the President will listen to the concerns of people who wish to give terrorists rights.

Do you people really want to give these prisoners a paid vacation? Prison is supposed to be deplorable. The information that they give us has led to countless arrests, and the prevention of future attacks. Have you forgotten about the terrorists acts on 9-11, the USS Cole, and the subway bombings in Spain and London? People, we are dealing with an enemy who doesn't wish to compromise. We are dealing with radical jihadists who wish nothing more than death to America. People like Rev. Wright and Michael Moore are siding with the terrorists when they spit our their anti-America hate speeches. We can't side with them. Not now. Not ever.

That is why this election is so important. Do we elect John McCain, who will continue to protect America, secure our borders, and allow for ways to punish the war criminals? Or do we elect Barrack Obama, who will "have talks" with them? (Need I remind you that U.S. foreign policy is to NEVER negotiate with terrorists.) Do we elect Barrack Obama, who will force us to retreat on the eve of victory, and who will allow undocumented peoples to roam our country and destroy us from within?

Yes, this is scary stuff, but it is fact. We are dealing with people who cannot be negotiated with. Places like Guantanamo allows us to keep up the fight against the radical Islamic extremists who seek to destroy us.

Happy Tax Freedom Day!!

I have linked to the website for The Tax Foundation. While Earth Day received a great deal of attention yesterday, today is the real reason to celebrate. Today is the day when the money you are making begins to go in your pocket. Today is the day where the government leaves you alone. All of the time spent working thus far this year you have funded our esteemed governments: state, local, and federal. So today, as you work appreciate these dollars, as they are truly yours. The site provides a great deal of tax information including how many days out of the year you work to fund various aspects of the governments that reign over you, and which states are the worst. I thought that this would be a good way to celebrate today.

Just a side note, Tax Freedom Day usually moves back every year, but not this this year, thanks to our wondrous stimulus checks.

Picks for Vice President

Hey CRs!

The last two polls on this blog have been about John McCain's potentially running mate. In both of those polls, you decided that neither Dr. Rice nor Senator Graham would make a good Vice President. Currently there is a long list of possible choices. Here are some of the names being "tossed around:"

-Governor Mitt Romney
-Governor Mike Huckabee
-Senator Brownback
-Senator Libermann
-Governor Crist
-Governor Jindal
-Col Powel
-Dr. Rice
-Senator Graham
-Speaker Gringrich
-Congressman Boehner

This list reflects the type of people being considered. Should McCain pick a rising Republican Star? A strong social conservative? A person with domestic policy experience? Or a well-known politician? Should he pick a southern republican, or a Republican from a state with many electoral votes, such as CA or TX? Or should he pick a "wild card," like Joe Libermann?

The reason as to why the VP is so important this year is because due to McCain's age, he may only be a one-term President.
The Vice President could be extremely important, especially if the GOP plans to hold on to the White House for four, eight, or twelve more years.

Rather than do a poll, I thought I would let you all just comment on this post. Who should McCain pick as his VP?
